Privacy Policy

Linguver ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Linguver word game, available on the web and as a mobile app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. What we collect

We collect the following when you use Linguver:

• Account information — when you sign in with Google: your name, email address, and profile picture, as provided by Google.
• Game progress — your current level, score, word history, lives, and streak. Stored in our database so your progress syncs across devices.
• Language preferences — your native language and learning language, used to personalise your game experience.
• Subscription status — whether you have an active paid subscription, and the subscription ID from our payment provider.
• Error reports — if the app crashes or encounters an error, we automatically collect technical details (device type, browser version, the error message) to help us fix bugs. This is handled by Sentry.
• Usage data — basic analytics such as which game modes are used. We do not build individual behavioural profiles.

2. What we do not collect

• We do not collect your Google password — sign-in is handled entirely by Google.
• We do not collect your payment card details — payments are handled by Paddle, our payment provider.
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. (See section 9 regarding transfers in the event of a business sale.)

3. How we use your information

• To authenticate you when you sign in.
• To save and sync your game progress across devices.
• To process your subscription payment and manage your subscription status.
• To serve ads to free-tier users (via Google AdSense on web and Google AdMob on mobile).
• To diagnose and fix bugs using error reports.
• To personalise the game to your chosen learning language.

4. Third-party services

Linguver uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy:

• Google Sign-In — authentication. Google Privacy Policy
• Google AdSense / AdMob — advertising on the free tier. Google may use cookies and device identifiers for ad personalisation.
• Paddle — payment processing for subscriptions. Paddle Privacy Policy
• Sentry — error tracking and crash reporting. Sentry Privacy Policy
• Railway — our hosting provider, where your data is stored on secure servers.

5. Local storage

Linguver stores game state in your browser's localStorage (on web) or device storage (on mobile). This includes your level, score, and word history for the current session. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you are signed in.

6. Your rights

You can:

• Access your data — email us and we will tell you what we hold.
• Delete your account — email us and we will delete your account and all associated data from our database.
• Opt out of personalised ads — use your Google account's ad settings to control personalisation.

7. Children

Linguver is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we will remove your data within 30 days.

9. Business transfers

If Linguver is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of its assets, your information may be transferred to the new owner as part of that transaction. The new owner will be required to honour the commitments made in this Privacy Policy. We will notify you of any such change in ownership — for example, by a notice on this page or by email — and of any choices you may have regarding your personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Linguver after changes means you accept the updated policy.
